The Face of Ventura By Johanna Spinks

The Face of Ventura By Johanna Spinks showcases a portrait series that appeared in The Ventura Breeze Newspaper over a two year period. 58 sitters were painted from life, their unique life story and life sketch featured in the newspaper. The series went on to a solo show at the Museum of Ventura County where the collection now permanently resides. Sitters range from actor Kevin Costner to the harbor master and police chief along with art patrons, to the local coffee shop owner. A true slice of this historic mission town. Each sitter was also interviewed about their experience being painted on The Lyn Fairly and Friends Radio Show. Johanna won a Mayor's Award for Artist in the Community in 2012 for this project
